Office Equipment Supplies

The office of the 21st century was intended to be a paperless space but we've not quite got there yet.  We do rely on technology so much and it's important to design the working environment in an efficient way. Office equipment must be as user friendly as possible.

The computer is the hub of any office. Modern, flat screen monitors take up less space in desktop versions and some people find that the latest notebook computers serve their needs just as well. Broadband is vital for quick Internet connection and it's useful to network every staff member's computer together. This enables information to be shared. Some bosses like to block access to game sites, such a temptation to employees! It's easy to order the best of office equipment and pay insufficient attention to the telephone system. This should be incorporated with an answering service and call waiting facility.

A lot of space can be taken up with a photocopier, scanner and fax machine. It's possible now to buy one single machine with all those facilities. The all in one has a laser printer, copier, fax and a scanner to work through the computer. It's a neat, compact machine and good brands are high in quality. You can say goodbye to sheets of paper getting churned up in those old photocopiers that were as big as a small car. A filing cabinet is pretty essential, if only to stick your pot plant on top.
A big concern, when thinking of office equipment these days, is security. Everyone is nervous about industrial espionage and personal identity theft. It's worthwhile investing in a shredder. Be careful what you shred however, you can't stick it back together again!

These items above are the basics but there are other things on offer. You may want a franking machine for mail and one of those gadgets that shuffles papers into a neat pile. There are machines for binding documents and guillotines for cutting paper to size. In trays and out trays are useful and don't forget mundane things like office tidy sets, staplers, punchers and computer disc racks. Wall planners are good to remind you what you should have done yesterday. Of course, the best invention of modern times is the plastic sleeve, without which modern civilization would cease to exist.

The welfare of employees will be a priority of course and a water cooler is always welcome. They have to have somewhere to gather round and fathom out the latest episode of Lost. Vending machines are popular office equipment too, especially if they have those cereal bars for latecomers who missed breakfast.
